Cuando se quieren tipear fórmulas químicas yo venía usando el comando "mathrm", pero no sé si es el más indicado.

Ejemplo: [tex] \mathrm{SO_4^{2-}} [/tex]

¿Hay otra forma "mejor"?

Ejemplo: FQ2

IMHO es lo mejor que podés usar.

Lo que sí, tal vez no sea necesario LaTeX para eso y podría verse si no se puede hacer en HTML usando los tags de sup y sub.
